But, does my bindi match my boots?

I feel #blessed coming from such a diverse & rich culture & even more lucky to be able to mix my western & Indian clothes. My all time obsession is cotton Kurta’s, I literally pair them with denims, shorts, palazzo pants (current obsession) & better yet thigh high boots. Having such diversity in my wardrobe allows me to experiment with my everyday look & put together pieces which I would previously shy away from.

If you told me two years ago to rock a bindi, jhumkis & a kurta to work, I’d laugh & say “hell to the no boo”!

Ask me the same question today & I’m all like “HELL TO THE YEAH” with remnants of  Amla oil in my hair. Today I can say with a certain conviction I’m more comfortable in rocking a kurta with boots or even juttis with jeans.

But, can I wear this to work?

I wouldn’t really call myself a rebel in my everyday life but when it comes down to my office style I’m a self proclaimed revolutionist!

Okay that is a little dramatic but, if you ever catch me in the break room, I can assure you I won’t be unvaried.

I’m not the girl to have a “work” & “weekend” wardrobe, but rather believe recycling items in your wardrobe, especially key pieces to create different looks.

In the next coming weeks, you’ll see the Thigh High Series unfold & see how I pair these bad ass boots with three different outfits.

And to answer the question, Yes you can…

But, how does it change?

change

[cheynj]

1. to transform or convert

2. to adapt

//

Change is fluid, complex & unavoidable. We are constantly changing to bigger & better versions of ourselves, however, the crux of the matter is not how/what/when we change but how we adapt to change.

They key is to grab it by the throat & roll with it. Don’t let change fuck with you, rather, you fuck with change & don’t call them back in the morning.

Story time:

In the last five years I have changed jobs six times. From fashion start ups to the corporate humdrum I’ve dipped my toe in every pool of possibility thus far. Each role has taught me how to adapt to new people, environments, dress codes & pay checks.

The point is, change is like a t-shirt, over the years designers have tried & tested many ways to change it up. From crops to cutouts we’ve seen every trend under the bright blue sky. And with every new trend comes a little ass slap…

But can I wear this everyday?

The bomber jacket is more versatile than you think. Dubbed as a wardrobe staple; the bomber jacket can take any look from casual to sport luxe. With a plethora of cuts, fabrics, colours & lengths the bomber is ideal for someone who doesn’t like bulky jackets & heavy coats.

Plus the layering possibilities are endless, it’s the perfect season to layer up long tees, hoodies & crew neck sweaters sans bra.

But, are legs the new cleavage?

The pelvage trend was once a craze, forwarded by influencers & models who don’t stand at a comfy 5″3 & also have no qualms in accidental flashing.

My formula:

Thigh-high splits & a touch of quirk.

Keep it simple & be confident.

And, when it comes to the old age trend of “dressing for your body type,”

I give zero fucks.

Can I borrow your Shirt?

Boyfriend Clothing

[boi-frend kloh-th ing]

1. Mens clothes modified for womenswear

2. Just clothes

//

Boyfriend jeans. Boyfriend blazers. Boyfriend shirts.

 au revoir.

Women are swapping out pocketless, slim-fit blazers for boxy & fluid clothing. Instead of focusing on wearing man inspired silhouettes, women are directly buying from the mens department.

There’s a movement now where clothes are not segregated by gender but are differentiated by colour, shape & patterns. Its a long road till gender fluid clothes are introduced, but style is universal right?

In my humble opinion, menswear has seen a creative outburst, with more Hommes experimenting with colours, printed shirts & an outrageous sense of street style.

So dames, ditch those “boyfriend” jeans & those who ask:

But, are you wearing mens clothes?

But baby isn’t it too cold?

I am in a forever love affair with dresses & shorts. The crux of the matter is that the weather is changing & most sensible folks will swap out those cheeky bum shorts with jeans, over-sized hoodies & better decisions.

I, not being so much on the sensible side, discovered a simple formula to transition summer stapes to winter wear, without having to answer:

But Baby isn’t it too cold?

But, how does your mood make your clothes feel?

Every morning I wake up with a different mindset & mood to the previous day. Some days I wake up feeling authentic & on better days I wake with a sense of bad-assery. Not only does my mood & mindset affect the flow of things but plays a paramount part in my outfit of the day or better knows as #ootd.

You see, on Monday I could be roaming free in a red babydoll dress with leopard flats & heart – shaped studs & by Thursday you would catch me in denim cut-offs, a white shirt with the first two buttons undone.

Some call it balance.

I call it “My Morning Mètier”
